Stemming and lemmatization in Content Editor ✏️

Paulina avatar
Shared by Paulina • October 28, 2024

Stemming and lemmatization are now available in Content Editors! These powerful techniques make your terms list easier to manage—shorter and simpler—without reducing your Content Score or ranking potential.

What’s the difference?

Stemming reduces words to their root form. For example, “buy,” “buying,” and “bought” all become “buy.”

Lemmatization goes a step further, considering the word’s meaning and part of speech to map words like “buying,” “bought,” and “buys” back to “buy.”

This update is rolling out gradually, so if you don’t see it yet, hang tight—it’s coming to you soon!

Making our app fun and useful really sparks joy!

From big updates like AI Humanizer, Content Audit, and Topic Explorer to smaller tweaks like fine-tuning Insert Outline, Auto-Optimize or Internal Links, the past three months have been a whirlwind of releases that made the Surfer community happy and us satisfied (see May's and June's product roundups).

But, in a true Marie Condo fashion, it's time to clean up and reorganize and that's where our focus will be during summer 2024.

That said, I still have product updates for you 👀

  • We have free rewrites in AI Humanizer
  • data refresh indicators in Topic Explorer
  • page search in Content Audit
  • and full Elementor integration in WordPress

As for educational resources, my top picks are This is The Most Overlooked SEO Strategy! by our co-founder Tom and 16 Steps To Writing A Great Article [with examples] by our content writer Matthew.
